Pros:
Very desirable exterior design from all angles!
Being Volvo-related, its SAFE!!
For its price, it makes more sense than its competitors.
Cons
Interior feels a bit cramped.
The Polestar brand is still new compared to established brands like Mercedes, BMW and the Volkswagen Group.
Less practicality than a Volvo car.
The Polestar 2 has seen a facelift! No longer a front-wheel-drive, its now rear-wheel-drive as standard! The front "grill" is no longer black, it is now in the same color as the body paint.
The Polestar 2 I reviewed costed around 72k Euros, but it was the top of the range! Orange seatbelts and brake calipers, just like what you'd expect on a Mercedes AMG GT! "Animal welfare" nappa leather seats inside. This segment of electric cars is also special for me because these cars are lighter in weight, there for more economic on the autonomy, and better road performance!
The Polestar 2 is based on the same platform as the Volvo XC40. Which does explain why is looks like a Volvo S60 with a cross-country kit to it! The interior is very similar to a Volvo, except with performance in mind. But with some resemblance to certain XC models of Volvo. I wasn't impressed with the big plastic part between the driver seat and center area. It sort of got in the way when I was looking at the infotainment system.
I was also surprised with the poor practicality solutions. The door bin was not interesting compared to competitors.
Primary competitors of the Polestar 2 are the Tesla Model 3, BMW i4, and BYD Seal. What helps the Polestar 2 would be its strong Volvo identity and design. That too the improvements from the facelift.
Tesla may have built the first ever desirable electric car, but everyone has caught up. BMW and the Volkswagen Group build arguably the best electric cars (like the BMW i4, iX, and the Porsche Taycan), but at a high price tag. Stellantis seems to be dominating the electric city car segment, with the Peugeot e208, Citroen Ami, and Fiat e500. The Chinese car manufacturers, like BYD, MG, and Hongqi offer the best value for money in terms of equipment and design, but if you seek status or an identity, Chinese electric cars have a generic look to them.
