Pros:
A well-built interior with NOTHING that budges! Easy to clean and maintain.
Ideal off-roader for professional purposes (e.g. construction company, fire department, military, etc...).
Appealing design, old-school, NO massive tablet like in EV cars.
Cons:
Very new compared to established players, like the Land Cruiser or Jeep Wrangler. Therefore long-term reliability (5-10 years from today) can be a mystery.
Do not expect it to be economic or ecologic.
Appalling for the tarmac.
If I needed a 4x4 right now, for professional use, like emergency service, or construction company, the INEOS Grenadier would be my answer. Something well-built, with the off-road capability.
But If I lived in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by farms, forests, hills, you name it. I would look straight at the Japanese competitors for an answer, like the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Something which is reputed to tolerate abuse and daily use with confidence.
My first impression of the Grenadier when I saw it, the front reminded me of an IVECO Massif, or a Land Rover Series model from the 1960s. The side view had a strong Land Rover Defender image, although the wheelbase is notably longer on the Grenadier.
The engines powering this beast are BMW sourced, petrol and diesel. This is an aspect that worries me about long-term reliability, 5-10 years from today. I am not in anyways trying to imply the BMW engines are unreliable choices, but they aren't very cheap for long-term runs. German engines require their maintenance ON TIME. One abuse, and they can curse you. They don't tolerate abuse compared to the Japanese competitors.
To be fair, the Jeep Wrangler and American 4x4s in general were never saints in reliability either. INEOS may have some advantages after all!
On the other hand, this is perfect for professionals because they are provided with an engine best-suited for the job at hand!
The interior impressed me A LOT. Nothing budges at all. The interior is almost like an airplane cockpit, with buttons all over the center. Thank goodness there is no massive tablet like what you find in other competitors, like the Ford Bronco.
Make no mistakes, climbing into the INEOS Grenadier is like climbing into a tractor!
There is something that looks like a snorkel, but it is said to be an elevated air intake. Now to me that didn't make much sense. Good news is that it can be a do it yourself task! You can water-tight that snorkel-looking accessory!
